Miss England's Class

"where 21st Century learning happens..."

In Miss England's Art Class we learn:

PictureWinter Park, Colorado
Art is the medium for our lives; it surrounds us everywhere in the world and through a rich understanding of that world comes the foundation of art education.  Within an elementary classroom, lessons in art should be created with artistic as well as academic intent to ensure critical development between eastern and western hemispheres of the brain.  This ability to create connection across left and right-brained boundaries is what I believe to be the root of creative enterprise.

It is my goal that everyone understands how important art is and why we study art.  Art began as a simple need to tell a story—or share an idea.  Art has since allowed us to express ourselves through our language, visual imagery, song, dance, structure and various other media while capturing our history and cataloging our cultures.

"The beauty of art is its bounds are infinite as it encompasses everything we can see and all that we can only imagine seeing."

September 2015: This past summer I was able to travel to Berlin, Germany to participate in a 2-week cultural exchange with our partners at the JFK School.  Through the rich learning experiences provided by our guides in Germany, I was inspired to create a series of projects reflective of my trip to share with my students.
